Speed up my computer and how did my computer become so slow are two of the most common refrains we computer technicians hear regularly. It is with good reason folks become concerned about losing their computer’s speed. Loss of PC speed has become a very common thing. In the world of PC’s, seeing them become slower and slower is an agravation all of us experience; much to our consternation, of course.

So, what happens? Why is it almost inevitable our computers will start to turn on us by getting so slow they are a pain in the neck just to boot up? What can we do to spare ourselves from this misery? How can we make these fun to operate machines fun to operate once again?

First of all, usually it isn’t the computer itself that is causing the loss of speed. In most cases, nothing has happened to the PC. So, if this is true with your slowing computer, which it probably is, it is the Windows operating system causing
your woes. If you were running DOS for instance, your computer would still be humming along at a high rate of speed. Of course, DOS is useless to us these days, but the point is you don’t have to get your computer fixed to get your computer speed back. You have to get your Windows fixed.

Also important to note is when you need to get your Windows fixed, you don’t have to take your PC to a guy like me to fix it. Unless it is really, really in bad shape! Most times your operating system has developed registry corruption and this is what has made the PC become slow. By the way, this doesn’t mean you did something wrong that caused your registry to accumulate corruption. Registry corruption is a normal phenomenon in Windows operating systems in today’s computing world. It has always been that Windows operating systems were prone to corruption. However, with the smaller files and speeds of older operating systems, corruption didn’t cause as much havoc as it does now.

Think of it this way; the more speed you have, the more speed you have to lose. Your old 386 microprocessor running at 33mhz would never support Windows XP, let alone Vista. So, a slowdown in this ancient mariner of a computer would be hardly be noticeable. Nowadays, you need all you computer’s resources to push around Windows XP and Vista. When registry corruption makes these huge files systems even bigger, no computer has enough resources to keep the OS at top speed.

The bottom line is a non-corrupt registry makes for a streamlined Windows operating system. With no corruption in your OS’s way to bloat it and bog it down, your computer will have enough power to push the OS to its maximum potential. This means no slowdowns, no error pop ups and no more aggravation.

So, how do we get rid of the boat of registry corruption? Answer: We use a good registry cleaner regularly. That’s all there is to it. Everyday, more and more people are coming to the realization that registry cleaners are a very important computer maintenance tool. It is even worth having one if you have not yet run into computer speed problems, but if you do have a slow running PC, cleaning you Windows registry is a must!
