While it is true a virus or spyware or other type of malware could be behind the registry corruption, this corruption has to be removed before the computer errors will stop. Naturally, it is wise to run a virus/spyware scanner frequently. However, in recent years it has also become necessity to also run a registry cleaner periodically.

In the traditional sense, a corrupted registry is the result of software or device drivers being removed. So, when any hardware is removed, the driver also would be removed and so registry corruption would result.

However, there is more to it than just that. When a driver or software program is upgraded, technically the old one is
removed. So, once again corruption would be left in the registry.

Then, there is this problem; spyware, viruses, adware and all this kind of stuff are software programs which are technically known as malware. Malware is a contraction for malicious-software. So, when any malware is removed from a computer, it will leave registry corruption behind.

This creates a quandry because we don’t want to create a corrupted registry but we simply must remove malware when any is found. So, all we can do is continue running virus and spyware cleaners at regular intravals and also run a good registry cleaner periodically.
