The Acer Aspire Revo has a small body, affordably priced and provides you with basic computing needs. Such includeacer meego netbook

Everything is contained within a block close to the size of a pocketbook, so there’s no need to worry about where to place a full-sized PC tower.

It belongs to the nettop category: a type of PC that requires low-wattage, has limited capabilities and a small body. It has a dimension of 1.2″ (depth) x 7.1″ (width) x 7.1″ (height). Black panels with glossy finishing are found on the front and back. Somewhat hexagonally shaped, it has a V-shaped stand that’s detachable. It may be laid flat on a surface and still work just as fine even without the stand.

The thin profile is glossy white, and houses an impressive number of ports. Its left edge contains eSATA, headphone, microphone and S/PDIF jacks. Its right edge boasts of Ethernet, VGA and HDMI ports. There are multiple USB ports available here. There are 4 of them on the right edge, and 2 more on the top edge. The backlit power button is located on the top-right corner of the front panel.

It comes installed with an operating system, a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. Nettops and most netbooks require low-wattage. That’s why the unit is powered with a dual-core Intel Atom N330 processor running at 1.6GHz. There are also the Nvidia Ion platform and 160GB hard drive around. Acer is kind enough to include a few applications, such as a backup-creating software.

One thing that’s noticeable right away is the absence of a monitor. Although the unit is undeniably affordable, the need to purchase a monitor for it will surely factor in your budget. Then again, the package already comes with a keyboard and mouse – both white and wireless. There’s also a pair of USB speakers that match these peripherals, able to give off superb audio despite their diminutive size.

Again, it provides you with basic computing tasks. Such include document processing, multimedia playback and web surfing – what’s considered as the heart of a nettop. Playing light games is also possible, but demanding ones are subject to graphics and frame rate degradation. One thing this unit is really good at is playing high-definition videos. No picture stalling or audio stuttering can be observed.

If you have to deal with cramped spaces, the Acer Aspire Revo is the nettop for you. It’s compact, stylish, and taking it with you is hassle-free as it weighs only less that 2 pounds. This gadget fits your life to a T if what you require in a PC is basic computing and internet surfing only.
